Research Firm Predicts That Kiosk Deployment Will Double Over The Next Five Years

19/01/2012

According to a marketing research firm based in New York, the number of touch screen kiosk deployments worldwide will double over the next five years.

ABI Research predicts that interactive kiosk rollouts will grow in the next few years as consumers are increasingly looking to the technology for its convenience.

According to the company’s forecast, figures will climb from 1.6 million in 2011 to nearly three million by 2016.

Self-service technology has been soaring over the past few years and kiosks are not a new platform by any means, but ABI Research foretells that the trend will be even more popular in half a decade’s time as customers seek greater ease and accessibility.

Sam Lucero, the practice director for M2M connectivity at the research firm, said that consumers worldwide have grown accustomed to using them for everything from self-checkout in the supermarket to checking in for their flight at an airport.

Further findings show that the sectors that use the touch screen technology substantially include healthcare, local government, travel, retail, entertainment and financial services.
